Trustees approve several purchases and contracts, including dedicated Civic Plus server and Vermeer directional drill

At its Oct. 8 meeting the Canton Township Board of Trustees approved a series of procurement and contracting items to support township operations and capital projects.

IT and leisure services: Trustees approved a $6,971.92 purchase order to Civic Plus for a dedicated hosting server (prorated to the contract renewal date of June 1, 2025). Director Homburger and staff said the dedicated server should ease high‑volume registration slowdowns during mass registration periods and that Civic Plus recommended the purchase.

Public works and project contingency: The board approved a $29,670 purchase order increase to OHM Advisors for additional engineering services and a 15% contingency tied to Cherry Hill Village Town Square Phase 1 work (water main permit and design of a vertical stage). Trustees also approved purchase of a 2024 Vermeer directional drill and associated equipment from Vermeer Midwest for $199,413.45 to support water service installations and other public works operations.

IT infrastructure and environmental reviews: Trustees waived the RFP requirement to purchase Cisco Meraki wireless access points to replace end‑of‑life devices across township facilities. The board also awarded a three‑year environmental review contract (with an optional two‑year extension) to Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber for HUD‑funded projects including Fire Station 4 and ADA work at Victory Park.

Each purchase or contract motion carried during the meeting; trustees cited operational need, security and grant compliance as primary reasons for the approvals.
