The board also voted to move forward with purchasing county radios tied to a federal grant that reimburses most equipment costs. Sheriff’s office personnel told the board the grant requires the county to pay vendors up front and submit for reimbursement. Commissioners debated funding sources and approved covering the county’s share from existing budgeted lines and by drawing temporarily from the county inheritance fund for the matching portion, with the explicit expectation the inheritance fund is reimbursed when grant money arrives.
