Board forms three-member committee to draft student cell-phone policy

The committee's stated tasks are to survey other districts' policies, consult building principals and teachers, and return with an outline or draft by February for further consideration.
Trustees requested that staff provide existing handbook language (which currently restricts phones to before school, lunch and after school at the high school) and suggested the committee collect attendance and impact statistics from PowerSchool to inform policy choices.
No formal policy was adopted at the meeting; trustees directed the committee to report back with proposed language and supporting data.
