Sedona PSPRS board approves officer membership, schedules meetings and readies elections

The Sedona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) local board voted unanimously on June 6 to approve Officer Austin Gustali's membership in PSPRS, effective June 23, 2024. The chair called for a motion and the board passed the membership by voice vote.
"That item passes unanimously," the chair said after the voice vote. Staff noted the packet materials for the membership application are confidential and that no board member requested an executive session.
On administrative business, staff said the board will continue prescheduled meetings every other month in even-numbered months (Aug., Oct., Dec., Feb., Apr., June) at 11 a.m. in the Volte conference room unless otherwise posted; calendar invites will be sent. Staff told the board that two recently graduated officers will be agendized at the Aug. 1 meeting to complete pre-employment medical steps and be sworn if cleared.
Staff also reviewed the timeline for sworn-member elections: Detective Evangelista's four-year term ends Aug. 9 and Sergeant Pelletier's two-year term ends Aug. 10. Nominations and ballots for sworn staff will begin in the coming weeks, and new representatives will take seats after the next prescheduled meeting.
A board member asked that the PSPRS "D1" procedures package be streamlined to remove non-applicable material; the member cited a statutory reference as spoken in the meeting (transcript: "ARS 38 mesh 8 47") and asked that the streamlined package be on the next agenda for discussion.
