Davidson County Election Commission certifies March 5 primaries and municipal results, calls Oak Hill election

The Davidson County Election Commission unanimously certified the results of the March 5 presidential preference primaries and several municipal contests and voted to call an Oak Hill municipal election for Aug. 1, 2024.

Chair opened the commission’s agenda and asked for motions on certification. A motion to certify the Democratic presidential preference primary was made and seconded and carried with no opposition. The commission followed with certification of the Republican primary under a separate motion; that motion also carried with no opposition.

Commissioners then moved to certify the municipal election results for Berry Hill. A motion and second were recorded and the chair declared the motion carried with no opposition. The commission next considered a request from Oak Hill to schedule a municipal election; after a motion and second, the commission voted to call the Oak Hill election for Aug. 1, 2024.

The decisions were procedural certifications and calls required by election law and were taken on motions recorded on the meeting agenda. The chair closed each item by noting there was no opposition and that the motions carried.

The commission’s actions complete the formal certification steps for the March 5 contests and set the date for Oak Hill’s municipal election; commissioners did not attach conditions or amendments to the certified results during the meeting.
