Two WAVE students and a school presenter updated the board on extracurricular activity, enrollment and student supports at the WAVE program.
A student described FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) achievements: several members placed at regionals and the student speaker said they will advance to state competition. Jack Clement, a freshman, described the Quilt Club’s recent grant for sewing machines, community donations of fabric and recent charitable quilts donated to community partners, and said the club is working on a Quilt of Valor for a staff member’s fiancee who is a disabled veteran.
The presenter said WAVE’s enrollment stands at 223 full-time and 265 part-time students and credited recent onboarding changes with improved engagement among middle school students. The presenter also reported that all fourth- and fifth-grade students met or exceeded their AIMSweb winter testing benchmarks and that the district provided about 58 statewide-course enrollments through the Wisconsin eSchool Network partnership.
Board members praised the student presenters and asked that the board be updated when regionals and state competitions conclude. The presenters encouraged community volunteer opportunities and described ways students earn credit for service, such as work with Camp Rainbows Inn.
The board thanked the students and administrators for the presentation; no formal action was requested or taken on these items.
