Several student speakers identified themselves and described how programs have affected their learning and well‑being. One senior who said she is the GSA president urged the board to maintain protections and resources for LGBTQ+ students.
A teacher who identified herself raised concerns about human trafficking and asked the board to increase awareness and support for victims in schools. Other parents recounted disciplinary incidents and sought clarity on how school staff respond to student safety concerns.
Board members praised the speakers and said they heard the community’s concerns. Staff and board members noted these comments as they discussed operational priorities and the timing of any schedule or program changes; staff committed to including community input when developing pilot proposals and policy recommendations.
