Audit office reports progress on recommendation follow‑ups, schedules next update

Monia Chubb of the Office of Auditor General presented the audit recommendation follow‑up status as of Jan. 31 to the Fairfax County School Board Audit Committee on March 2.

Chubb said OAG currently has five open recommendations and closed four during the reporting period. Specific updates: two Nutrition Services recommendations related to benchmarking and regulation updates remain in process; four procurement recommendations are outstanding and pending final guideline updates and implementation of new audit‑board software; a critical‑process hiring recommendation related to retaining applicant information in BrassRing was closed after HR released a BrassRing user guide; the Design and Construction department established written approval requirements for proposed change orders and is transitioning to Kahua project software; and OAG verified closure of a West Spring High School time‑entry recommendation after sample testing.

Chubb said OAG will continue quarterly follow‑ups and will present the next update (as of April 30) to the committee during the June meeting.
