The treasurer presented the monthly financial reports and recommended shifting to a financial-forecast format that uses month-by-month trend data to produce more meaningful fiscal estimates. The treasurer said staff will produce a May forecast update and that next month the district expects to report finalized real estate tax receipts that have just posted.
Speaking to the board, the treasurer noted revenues were "currently running about 1,600,000.0 higher than a year ago," and observed that the increase was not wholly attributable to local tax receipts. He said payroll reconciliations and the general ledger had been completed and praised staff for timely reconciliation work.
The treasurer flagged a small but persistent bank-reconciliation variance and an outstanding deposit bucket that staff will chase; the treasurer said staff will monitor variances across months to identify transposition errors. He also said he had converted the monthly check-register item to an informational report rather than an approval item so the board can review documentation without approving individual checks after the fact.
On statutory reporting, the treasurer described an amended certificate prepared to reflect February receipts and explained that the tax-year certification follows the county'mandated tax-budget and certification process.
Board members asked questions about reporting formats, tuition and open-enrollment labels on vendor reports, and low-activity or dormant fund accounts; the treasurer said staff will run a five-year monthly activity report to identify funds with little or no activity for potential cleanup. The treasurer closed by saying there were no major surprises but that staff would return with a refined forecast and additional reconciliation details.
