Senator Blunt explained a committee substitute to Senate Bill 3109 that would exempt from property taxes the nonprofit that holds the management lease for LaFleur's Bluff State Park.
"What the bill would do is say that the nonprofit that is managing the property would not be required to pay property taxes on the land," Senator Blunt said, describing the rationale that the property is publicly owned (a state park) and a nonprofit lessee should not be taxed on the leasehold interest.
After questions, Senator Blunt moved the committee substitute and the committee adopted the substitute by voice vote; the chair said "the ayes have it" and the bill was reported out of committee.
