Board approves consent agenda including $7,500 career-pathways grant and anti-bullying self-assessment submission

On Nov. 26 the High Point board approved bundled curriculum, personnel and finance items including acceptance of a $7,500 New Jersey Pathways grant for machine-tool upgrades, a 74/78 anti-bullying self-assessment submission to the state DOE, personnel appointments/resignations and a substitute nurse pay increase to $250/day.
The High Point Regional High School District Board of Education approved several bundled consent items and personnel recommendations at its Nov. 26 meeting.
Under curriculum, instruction and technology the board approved harassment, intimidation and bullying reports; field-trip requests; professional-development activities; and accepted a $7,500 award from the New Jersey Pathways to Career Opportunities program to upgrade machine-tool technology. An administrator said the grant will be used "to upgrade our machine tool technology." The board also approved PIMS reporting for 2023–24 and a revised 2024–25 calendar reflecting half days for interns.
In personnel actions the board approved a revised bus-driver job description, a security-staff designation (James Visco), accepted a resignation (Andrews Matana) and a retirement effective 11/30/2024. The board also approved a retroactive ESSER charge of $71,241.30 to pay guidance salary for employee #691 for the 2023–24 ESSER-funded year, according to the agenda item presented.
Finance approvals included standard monthly reports and reconciliations, and the board approved increasing substitute nurse pay to $250 per day effective 11/27/2024. Transportation contract addenda for mileage adjustments and activity-route contracts for 2024–25 were also approved.
The board handled extracurricular business in a single motion, approving hosting a December Christmas basketball tournament with participating teams listed and rescinding the appointment of Bailey Bozaz as head girls lacrosse coach. Votes were taken by roll call and recorded as affirmative during the meeting; no recorded dissent was announced on the floor.
The meeting also included the presentation and board acceptance (via the meeting agenda process) of the district’s 2023–24 anti-bullying self-assessment, which the presenter said scored 74 out of a possible 78 and identified four improvement areas; the district will submit the assessment to the New Jersey Department of Education for certification and post the certified assessment on the district website when returned.
