Plano council confirms slate of board and commission appointments and TIF nominees

After returning from a closed executive session, the Plano City Council proceeded through a long slate of appointments and administrative items and approved multiple board and commission nominations by unanimous votes.
The council approved alternates and officers for several boards: appointments included Board of Adjustment alternates and chair retention; Heritage Commission members and chair; Planning & Zoning members and chair; Animal Shelter Advisory Committee members and chair; Community Relations Commission appointments; Cultural Arts Commission appointments; Parks and Recreation Planning Board members and chair; Library Advisory Board members and chair; a nomination to the Plano Housing Authority; Senior Advisory Board appointments; and retention and new appointees to Tax Increment Financing Reinvestment Zone No. 4.
Most motions were made and seconded from the dais and carried on voice or hand-raising votes recorded as 8-0. The council tabled certain decisions—such as which alternates should be moved into regular seats and the Retirement Security Plan Committee recommendation—so staff and council liaisons can return with details at a later meeting.
On nominations to appraisal-district boards, the council discussed re-nominating Rick Grady to the Collin Central Appraisal District board; members agreed to place his name on the city's slate for the countywide process. The Denton Central Appraisal District nomination will be revisited in December when a consolidated list from participating entities is available.
With no speakers signed up for public comment, the mayor adjourned the meeting.
