The commission approved a final plat and variance on Oct. 7 that allows an existing utility property (an elevated storage tank) on Premier Drive to retain 58 feet of frontage rather than the 100 feet required by the subdivision ordinance.
Planner Raha Poulade explained the lot’s constrained frontage stems from historical street reconfiguration and adjacent improvements; staff concluded granting the variance would not be detrimental to public safety and that the request is unique to the site. Commissioners asked whether the commission must make explicit findings; staff said the staff report documents the facts and an approval is covered by agreement with those findings unless the commission disputes them.
Commissioner Brunoff moved to approve the request based on staff rationale; the motion passed 6–0.
