Chair introduced a request to end Crochet’s 90‑day probation effective Aug. 9, 2024, at the previously approved pay (grade 8, step 16). Staff said Crochet had transferred most grant files to South Central Planning and would function as a liaison while a new grant manager is hired, recommending the jury keep her pay as is for another 30 days so the handover could be completed. The staff member said, “we leave things as is for her pay for another 30 days,” and added the parish hoped to have a grant manager onboard by the end of that period.
One committee member moved to reduce Crochet’s pay because the workload had decreased; another member offered a counter motion to keep her pay unchanged while the transition was finalized. The jury voted on the counter motion (mover: Mr. Pondville; second: Mr. Nakan) and the Chair announced the counter motion passed. The Chair said the pay will remain in place for 30 days and the matter will be revisited by the jury.
Members also discussed procedural problems with South Central Planning accepting communications only through specific intermediaries for some programs — staff cited the Resilient Communities Infrastructure Program as an example — and urged that the parish open communications so multiple designated staff could interact directly with planners to increase efficiency.
