During the Finance Committee’s June 17 meeting, the president reported that staff led several public input sessions and forums in recent weeks, and that the sessions produced useful public discussion. The president said the city is close to completing its signature-tracking process and that outreach numbers are tracking above the target of 600 participants.
A committee member thanked guest presenters — Sam Gaston, city manager for Mountain Brook, and Gretchen Defonte with the City of Pelham — for sharing experience and perspective at the forums. Another committee member praised Brian for recording the sessions and distributing the recordings via a newsletter so residents unable to attend could watch.
The committee did not take formal action on the programs discussed; members asked staff to continue outreach and finalize tracking as the effort moves forward.
