Grant County Health Board re-elects chair, approves minutes and reschedules March meeting

During officer elections the board nominated Dr. Pearson to remain chair; after a roll-call-style call for 'Aye' votes the motion carried though at least one participant voiced opposition. Sarah Seward was nominated and approved as vice president.
The board then approved minutes from a Dec. 15 executive session and the Nov. 17 meeting after motions, and later approved the division reports presented by staff.
On scheduling, board members discussed availability for the March 23 meeting and options including March 16 and April 6. S1 moved to change the March 23 meeting to April 6 and S3 seconded; the board voted to reschedule and staff will re-advertise the meeting date.
Board members also discussed the open health officer vacancy and emphasized recruiting multiple applicants before making an appointment. Dr. Pearson said the board wants more than one applicant before recommending an appointment. The chair moved to adjourn into executive session to discuss the appointment process; members voted in favor and the board adjourned into executive session.
Next steps: the board will re-advertise the rescheduled meeting and proceed with the executive-session discussion of the health officer appointment; no formal appointment was made in open session.
