Teresita Garcia, a member of the Veterans Advisory Board (VAB), recounted board dynamics going back to 2023 and described what she said was the replacement of a VAB member’s widow (Donna Belonsky) and repeated communications breakdowns with the board chair. Garcia said she experienced unprofessional conduct and urged that board members be treated with dignity and respect.
Jeffrey Martin, a Woodland Oaks resident and signer of a neighborhood petition, said the developer of a proposed rezoning met with property owners and agreed to withdraw the plan after residents cited increased traffic, loss of restrictive covenants and possible negative effects on property values. Martin thanked planning staff (Miss Hernandez) for information and said he appreciated the developer’s decision to withdraw the rezoning.
Commissioners acknowledged the comments; no formal action was taken during the citizen‑comment period but staff and commissioners noted the importance of following open‑meetings procedures for board appointments and maintaining dialogue with neighborhood stakeholders.
