Commissioners reaffirm Audrey Morales as Jobs and Family Services director; she outlines caseloads and partnerships

The Mahoning County Board of Commissioners reaffirmed Audrey Morales as director of the county Department of Jobs and Family Services, and Morales used the occasion to describe the agency's caseloads, partnerships and programs.

Morales thanked commissioners for the appointment and reflected on Black History Month and her long service in the agency. She said the department serves nearly 40,000 SNAP recipients, about 77,000 Medicaid recipients and roughly 2,000 OWS recipients, and described collaborative grants and contracts with local organizations to provide summer youth programming, appliance assistance, transportation and other client supports.

"I am committed to assisting the nearly 40,000 SNAP recipients, the 77,000 Medicaid recipients, the 2,000 OWS recipients, and every family and child who turns to us in a time of need," Morales said. She credited partnerships with Compass Family and Community Services, YMCA, YWCA and other local nonprofits for helping extend services.

Morales also noted the fiscal office’s role and the department’s use of transferred grants and local contracts.
