Planning Commission elects chair and vice chair; secretary nomination postponed

The Ocean Shores Planning Commission on Feb. 24 held its officer elections, approved routine agenda items and agreed to delay naming a commission secretary.

The meeting opened at the Ocean Shores Public Library and began with a roll call and a motion to excuse Commissioner Steve Kern because of illness; the motion carried on a voice vote. The commission then approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of its Jan. 13 meeting.

During nominations, commissioners supported a motion to select the meeting chair (the nomination was made from the dais and affirmed by voice vote). Commissioners then nominated and approved Dennis Peterson as vice chair. A separate motion to postpone the selection of a commission secretary until the next meeting passed by voice vote.

The commission heard brief public communications and then moved on to substantive agenda items. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, which carried; the meeting was adjourned at 2:50 p.m.
