Nina Creech of People Working Cooperatively told the council her nonprofit provides emergency home repairs and modifications, and has delivered about 62 services and $138,000 in support to Saint Bernard residents in recent years.
"We are essentially a nonprofit construction company," Creech said, describing services such as emergency repairs (no heat, plumbing failures, gutter repairs), energy conservation work, lead‑paint remediation and disability modifications. She said the group delivers roughly 7,000 services annually across two states and 16 counties and recently received additional state funding to expand local work.
Creech highlighted three program priorities for Saint Bernard: lead‑paint remediation, asthma‑related housing improvements in partnership with Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and aging‑in‑place services, including a free seven‑week evidence‑based 'Stepping On' class. The group also maintains a volunteer program and will host a large one‑day volunteer event on Nov. 16; Creech encouraged council members and residents to participate.
Creech offered printed materials and business cards and said the organization can bring classroom or in‑home assessments to Saint Bernard on request. She also noted a Nov. 11 WCPO telethon for veterans and a Farmer Foundation matching opportunity for donations.
