The Sunnyside Unified School District Governing Board approved the superintendent's performance goals for the 2024-25 school year, adopting five goals that emphasize academic performance, attendance, community engagement, strategic planning and capital planning.
The superintendent summarized the goals to the board: "Goal 1 is an academic performance goal... improve cohort performance of 3% or better on the Arizona academic standards assessment..." He described Goal 2 as a districtwide effort to reduce chronic absenteeism by 3 percent, Goal 3 to promote family and community engagement, Goal 4 to develop a five-year strategic plan aligned to the district graduate profile, and Goal 5 to develop a five-year capital improvement plan funded in part by the newly passed District Additional Assistance override.
A board member moved to approve the goals, the motion was seconded, and the board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote in favor. The superintendent noted that the district expects approximately $7 million per year for seven years from a district additional assistance override and that the capital-planning process will align those funds with district priorities.
