Port Hueneme council adopts 2025 meeting calendar and adds Jan. 6 session

The Port Hueneme City Council approved its proposed 2025 meeting calendar on Nov. 4 and voted to add a meeting on Jan. 6, 2025 to help onboard newly elected members and handle early‑year business.
Staff said the primary change from the current year is a revised summer schedule that spreads breaks more evenly (one cancelled meeting in both July and August rather than one long recess), to allow the council to meet if time‑sensitive issues arise. Councilmembers discussed a desire to provide incoming councilmembers time to be seated and requested the Jan. 6 date be added; a motion to add Jan. 6 passed unanimously.
Council also heard several staff updates immediately after the calendar approval, including a timeline for the Waimee Beach Walkway Improvement project (expected completion Nov. 30), details about a library mural internship with a $500 stipend for an 18–22‑year‑old applicant, and reminders about senior luncheon ticket sales.
