He also gave run-of-show details for Festival of Lights: event activities begin at 4 p.m., the parade starts at 5 p.m., Santa arrives for tree lighting at about 6 p.m., and staff are planning performances through roughly 7:30 p.m. "We are extending out an additional block because last year, the head of the snake ate the tail," Hanson said, noting the parade route expansion aims to reduce congestion.
The commission heard about the Stonehill Sports Court unveiling and partnerships that supported the project. A presenter described the court as a single, flexible surface with convertible goals so it can host both soccer and basketball; staff credited local partners, including Austin FC and the 4ATX Foundation, and an artist who produced a mural on the court.
