Deutschenfest review and planning; commission elects chair, vice chair and renews subcommittees

"We really pressed into the German Texas heritage. So this year, we really pressed into the Guten Tagalog. This is a we're a German town, obviously, but we're also a Texas town," Staff member (Speaker 9) said while summarizing the 2024 theme and placemaking choices. Staff reviewed the three‑entrance beer‑garden configuration, vendor placements, the attendee flow, and Placer AI attendance estimates (about 2,200 visits on Friday and 3,500 on Saturday). Staff also discussed programming ideas for 2025 (new contests, adjustments to the kid/carnival zone and signage increases) and noted that nonprofits run the beer garden under a city permitting structure.
Commissioners asked about logistics, vendor spacing and whether event timing should shift away from competing regional events; staff said council has been consulted and that the event is planned to remain on the third weekend in October (tentatively Oct. 17–18, 2025).
Leadership and subcommittees: commissioners conducted nominations and votes. Committee member (Speaker 8) recommended Ray for chair; following a motion and second, the commission approved the appointment. The commission then nominated and approved Stan as vice chair. The commission also considered renewal of standing subcommittees.
