Board creates ad hoc village centers committee, appoints three board and three public members

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors on Feb. 19 approved a draft charter creating an ad hoc village centers committee and affirmed appointments of board and public members to serve on the panel.
Todd Stevens briefed the board on the draft charter, which moves charges previously handled by the economic development committee into a standalone ad hoc committee. The chairman proposed the committee include three board members and three members of the public to work on village-center strategy and coordination with property owners.
Chair Sharon Bailey nominated Directors Cindy Heiser, Adam Lamb and Brad Bailey to represent the board and recommended public members Haley Garcia (local realtor), Chris Reyes (commercial realtor) and Whitney Lehman (designer and developer). A motion to adopt the charter and affirm the appointments was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Board members said the committee would help coordinate public-private partnerships and build engagement with village-center property owners. Chair Bailey described Grogan’s Mill Village Center’s recent library and community-center successes as an example of what coordinated efforts can achieve.
The board did not authorize new funding during the vote; the committee will report back with recommendations as it begins work.
