Calcasieu Parish School Board approves interim Allied Security contract and athletic-training renewal

The Calcasieu Parish School Board voted Thursday to accept the recommendation from an executive session on claim 4822020807W002 and approved several routine and program-related contracts, including an interim security contract with Allied Security and a multi-year athletic-training services renewal with Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Chair Speaker 1 moved and the board approved accepting the executive-session recommendation related to claim 4822020807W002; the motion carried despite "two nays" recorded during the roll call.
On agenda item A the board authorized the superintendent to enter a contract with Allied Security to provide school security services for the remainder of the 2425 school year under the same terms and compensation as the prior Stratagos contract, subject to counsel approval. District staff said Allied had begun the staffing process and aimed to hire as many existing Stratagos officers as possible to provide continuity; the superintendent also thanked local law enforcement for providing an increased presence while the private contract is in transition. "Allied Security came in second in the RFP process," the superintendent said, and would provide services until staff can re-advertise for 2526.
The board also approved item C, renewing athletic-training services with Lake Charles Memorial Hospital through July 31, 2029, as amended to add two additional trainers. The superintendent said the hospital has historically provided training services at no charge; the amendment would add two paid trainers at a cost of $5,833 per month for each additional trainer, and those trainers would be employees of Memorial Hospital rather than district staff.
Other items approved on the consent list included a cooperative agreement with McNeese State University for instrument diagnostics and repair to support band programs, designation of First Horizon Bank signing authority, an energy right-of-way approval, a cooperative swap with STEM Education LLC for equipment storage in exchange for teacher professional development, formal promulgation of election results from Dec. 7, 2024, and a cooperative agreement to formalize use of a community center and playground for Starks High School athletics. A change order adding $34,278 and five days to the Maplewood building contract was also approved.
The board then set committee meeting dates and adjourned.
