During the March 11 meeting the board approved several operational items: an amendment to the Ascension Saint Vincent's school-based behavioral-health contract, an overnight student trip, and a payroll resolution for an early-literacy grant stipend.
Administration described the Ascension contract amendment as a change from a flat annual fee to a per-staff fixed amount; the district said the maximum annual value remains $297,500 (the amount historically paid when fully staffed) but that the district will prorate payments when positions are vacant. The board voted to approve the amendment by voice vote.
The board also approved an overnight field trip for Westfield High School DECA members to attend the International Career and Development Conference in Orlando April 25–30; students will pay their own expenses and the motion passed by voice vote.
Finally, the board adopted a resolution to distribute the state Early Literacy Achievement Grant under legislation noted in the meeting (identified in the presentation as House Bill 1001 from the 2023 session). Administration said 181 district educators qualify and each will receive $209.62 (prorated if part-time) and asked the board to authorize payroll inclusion for the March 20 pay date; the resolution passed by voice vote.
Board members said they appreciated the work by district staff to process grant formulas and manage staffing for behavioral-health services.
