MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield City Council on Feb. 9 approved a special-event permit for the annual Pickle Parade & Palooza and approved downtown activation grant reimbursements and staff overtime support for the event.
John Presley, who identified himself as president of the Pickled Mansfield Society, described logistical planning for the March 21 event, said organizers expect a large turnout (he said last year attracted over 50,000 people downtown) and described fundraising partnerships including a March 3 Texas Roadhouse fundraiser.
Staff presented a downtown activation grant request and recommended awarding reimbursements up to $17,472 and staff overtime valued up to $35,917. Council approved the permit and the recommended grant support by voice vote (recorded as carrying 7–0).
Staff noted the grant request was part of a five-year award framework and that the grant recommendation reflects staff review of eligible expenses; council did not change the staff recommendation at the meeting.
