Public raises concerns and council tables Mansfield RV-parking ordinance

MANSFIELD, Texas — During the citizens' comments portion of the Feb. 9 meeting, a resident urged Mansfield city councilors to revise a proposed ordinance regulating recreational-vehicle parking on city streets, and the council voted to table the ordinance for further work.
Robert Morris, who identified himself and his address, told the council the draft ordinance (an amendment to Chapter 72 of the traffic code) lacks a clear problem statement and contains language that could allow an RV owner to occupy the public right-of-way for multiple days under the permit structure he read from the draft. He urged council to return the ordinance to staff for revisions before approval.
Later in the meeting, staff (Miss Flores) asked that the council table the item to allow additional work; a council member moved to table the ordinance until the Feb. 23 meeting, the motion was seconded and the council carried the motion 7–0.
Morris said he provided written suggestions to the city manager and city attorney on Jan. 19 and requested a clearer staff report explaining the problem the ordinance seeks to solve.
The council did not adopt the ordinance on Feb. 9; action was deferred to the Feb. 23 meeting per the motion to table.
