Muncie Community Schools trustees approved the district’s recommended 2025 property-and-casualty insurance renewal with the district’s current agent and carrier, USI.
Mister Jerome told trustees the renewal presented at the meeting is for property and casualty only and that cyber and workers’ compensation coverage will be brought to the board in January. "What I bring to you tonight as the renewal premium to accept is with our current, agent and our current carrier, and that's the USI agency. And that is about a $12,000 increase over the previous years property and casualty," he said.
Jerome said the district examined cooperative options through the educational service center but did not receive the anticipated $1,000,000 in savings; because the cooperative savings would be paid from the operations fund, the recommended path was to remain with the current carrier for property and casualty and pursue cyber and workers’ compensation as separate renewals in January.
A trustee moved to approve the recommended property-and-casualty renewal; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
