The member described changes that, in their view, shifted material handling from a larger footprint to a smaller one — "taking an average of 4 foot of silt off of 23 acres and put it on 10 acres" — and warned this could create major problems and additional expense. "This I see nothing but a big fiasco coming," the council member said, and asked why the project changed and whether grants or approvals are now at risk.
Commissioner Dale and other commissioners said they were not aware of unilateral changes and recommended follow‑up: review any available proposal documents, meet on site with contractors or excavators to get technical explanations, and if needed place the item on a future commissioners' meeting agenda. The commissioners also noted DNR involvement in tree removal approvals and said they would ask relevant staff (including the county’s project leads) to gather documents and report back.
The council member also asked whether the county match for any involved grants had been altered; commissioners said they would check grant conditions and provide available information at the next scheduled meeting.
