Resident tells Tallahassee ethics board he fears partnership between TPD and ICE

"I'm concerned that ... our police department [would] work with our ICE agent," Sims said, adding he had read an article that the city attorney may not have been aware of a memorandum of agreement. Sims said he worries that his prior interactions with the city have left him labeled "aggressive" and that he could be targeted: "I don't want ICE coming after me because they partner with TPD," he said.
Sims asked the board for transparency and said he had shared his concerns with the ethics office. The board allowed the comment within the agenda-item time slot and did not make a formal determination during the meeting about any existing memorandum or partnership; staff and board members subsequently reiterated that staff would follow up with the city attorney as part of broader next steps on ordinance and policy work.
