CRTPA board affirms revised Title VI public involvement procedures

CRTPA staff presented a revision to the agency's Title VI public involvement plan on April 15 and the board approved the update by voice vote.
The Title VI coordinator (Susan) explained the update separates formal (written) and informal (verbal/nonwritten) complaint pathways and clarifies how a verbal complaint is documented and whether a complainant wishes to file a written statement. "If you bring me a complaint verbally, I will acknowledge [it] and document, but I will also come back to you and specifically say, do you want to provide a written complaint? The moment you say no, we have now affirmed that it's verbal and nonwritten," the coordinator said.
Staff said Title VI complaints are routed to district Title VI staff and Federal Highway as appropriate and that the agency has not received any Title VI complaints to date. A motion to reaffirm and adopt the Title VI statement and plan passed by voice vote.
The board provided no additional direction and the update is effective upon adoption; staff will continue to coordinate with district Title VI contacts and Federal Highway as needed.
