Everett staff report 82% of seniors have met graduation pathway; district highlights reengagement supports

District staff updated the Everett board on May 25 about graduation progress for the Class of 2021 and the systems the district will use to support students toward college and career readiness.
Staff reported that about 82% of current seniors had already met a graduation pathway through the expanded options now accepted by the state, and that another 13% (approximately) were in the process of meeting requirements. The presentation noted state waivers and an appeal process for students where appropriate.
The district described its reengagement offerings operated with Graduation Alliance: 167 students were enrolled in the program (ages 16 to 21), the program provides wraparound supports including academic coaches and local advocates, and it is a year-round program that typically enrolls students who are at risk of dropping out. Staff said 37 students had graduated from the program as of April 30 and the district expected another 25 to 30 graduates by August.
Staff also outlined summer programming and credit-recovery opportunities, reporting roughly 250 course sign-ups for credit recovery and a comparable number for online summer acceleration courses. Everett CareerLink and CTE options were described as additional supports for college and career readiness.
Presenters emphasized that the district uses diagnostic assessments, MTSS and monitoring systems to identify student needs, and that supports are intended to ensure students remain engaged through the summer and into next year when necessary.
