Commissioners proclaim March 2026 Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month after testimony

Sodino described inherited bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and von Willebrand’s disease, said von Willebrand’s affects more than 3% of the population, and urged earlier diagnosis—especially for women who may be underdiagnosed because symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding are sometimes overlooked. Sodino also described personal experience with hemophilia B and the role of treatment and advocacy.
Commissioner Concepcion moved the proclamation; the board seconded and adopted it by voice vote. Commissioners thanked Sodino for attending and emphasized the importance of outreach and awareness.
