Student praises computer-science teacher as board recognizes community members

Nicholas Dawson introduced himself as a senior at the Barrow Architectural Academy and said he had been drawn to the school’s technology programs after learning about them in middle school. He praised his teacher, saying, “Miss Knowles is a very, very good teacher,” and described plans to attend the University of Georgia and pursue an internship with Lockheed Martin.
Separately, the board recognized Ben and Kelly McDaniel as February’s Community Members of the Month for sustained service to schools and local programs; speakers recounted their involvement with Family Connection, literacy partnerships and other community efforts.
The board also approved the personnel report (motion by Ms. Hendricks; second by Doctor Carey).
