The Levy County Board of County Commissioners appointed members to the county's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, refilling seats that had expired since about 2023.
County manager Mary Ellen Harper said the committee should be between eight and 11 members, staggered for two-year terms, and that the county had more applicants than vacancies. A commissioner moved a slate of nominees (including Corey Montalbano, Stuart Wasson, Alan Strickland, Rusty Pendergrass, Christy Nash, Natalie Thomas, Burgundy Arrington, Kelly Bishop, Jesse Boatwright, Stacy Swan and Johnny Hires). The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff reminded the board that committee meetings are publicly noticed and that municipalities should receive agendas and invitations. Commissioners discussed the benefit of rotating meeting locations around the county to encourage municipal participation and noted concern about maintaining quorum; the resolution calls for a quorum of five regardless of total committee size.
The board selected the larger membership option to increase the likelihood of quorum at quarterly meetings and asked staff to reach out to municipalities to encourage representation and participation.
