Levy County commissioners approve grants, budget amendment, housing loans and utility-rate ordinance

The board unanimously adopted resolution 2025-73 authorizing submission of an FDOT capital assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. §5339 and approved resolution 2025-70 to apply for a rural operating assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. §5311. Emergency Management Director Luke McCain presented the FY2025 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG G0585), noting the federal funds require a dollar-for-dollar match totaling $52,268.60; the board approved that agreement.
Finance Administrator Jason Rivera asked the board to approve resolution 2825-72 to amend the FY2025–26 budget to recognize $1,632,325 in additional grant revenue across five departments; commissioners approved the amendment on the motion and voice vote.
Brooke Smith presented four deferred-payment SHIP loans, each for $30,000 to assist homebuyers under the Levy County Local Housing Assistance Plan 2025–26; the board approved each loan as presented. Staff recommended and the board approved a task assignment for planning services (task assignment 2025-14) with a professional planning firm to support development-review work. Procurement approvals included a Caterpillar pneumatic‑tire forklift for $57,597 and a 2026 Ford Transit 12‑passenger van for $54,894.04, both awarded from cooperative contracts. The board approved bills totaling $2,527,253.92 before adjourning.
