MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield Planning and Zoning Commission was told on April 21 that a proposed historic Mansfield preservation plan, introduced at a joint city council–Historic Landmark Commission session, will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission at its next meeting on May 5.
"That's something that will come to the commission next meeting," said Mr. Rodriguez, reporting on city council actions. Rodriguez said city council also issued a proclamation declaring May Historic Preservation Month.
Commissioners used the announcements portion of the meeting for community reminders. Commissioner Gaudens urged residents to participate in early voting, saying it is important for the city's growth and economic prospects. Commissioner Moses, offering condolences to neighbors, also announced a candidate forum scheduled for 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1188 West Broad Street, featuring city council and school board candidates (including Arlington ISD races).
Staff announced an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26 at the Service Center just south of City Hall on Wisteria. Rodriguez said the planning department will give away 128 trees of varying species and sizes (staff described heights from about 2 to 10 feet and noted 3‑ and 10‑gallon stock will be available).
What to expect next: The historic Mansfield preservation plan will be distributed to commissioners ahead of the May 5 meeting for review, according to staff. The commission will consider the plan after staff and landmark commission presentations.
