Planning staff gave the commission a project update that enumerated industrial, commercial and housing work now underway in Coldwater.
Keith reported that industrial expansions include Schmitz Foam and Voltec building additions, and that Elmet (formerly HC Stark) is renovating and adding a solar array. On the commercial side, Keith said a Tony's Car Wash is under construction in front of Meijer. On housing, he listed several projects that together represent roughly 450 new units: a manufactured-home park expansion (Trailtree) with 76 lots, Summit Apartments wrapping up with about 310 apartments, a market-rate Western Meadows project with an initial phase of 10 lots (30 planned), and Coldwater Senior Villas on South Fremont Street with 41 senior units. Waterworks Park renovations (fields, parking, trails, lighting) and several east-side road and sidewalk repairs were also described.
Keith also reported the city is conducting a search for a planner/zoning-administrator role and said an offer may be extended soon. The commission recorded no substantive objections and adjourned; staff said they would return with the redlined zoning item for the public hearing at the next meeting.
