Council sends potential change to pet-limit code to Rules & Laws committee

Springdale City Council voted unanimously Dec. 4 to refer a possible change to the city's pet-limit zoning code to the Rules & Laws committee for review and recommendation.
The chair raised a proposal to examine Section 153.252(f)(6)(a)(I), which currently limits residents to two dogs or cats (or a combination). Council members debated process: some preferred sending a directive and suggested drafting initial ideas for planning commission review; others said the issue had been handled previously and cautioned about unnecessary effort.
Mister Vanover moved that the matter be forwarded to Rules & Laws with instructions to look at Section 153.252(f)(6)(a)(I) and related ordinances in Section 90 that govern domestic animals and neighbor protections; Missus Webster seconded. Council approved the motion by roll call (7–0). The chair asked the committee to provide periodic updates to council as they consider changes.
The referral authorizes committee review; it does not change the existing two-pet limit. Any drafting of amendments and subsequent public hearings would occur later if the committee and planning commission recommend changes.
