Challenger Amy Thompson urges 'fresh perspective' as incumbent Tom Vanover cites decades of service in Springdale District 4 race

Amy Thompson, a small-business owner, announced her campaign for Springdale City Council District 4 and outlined four pillars she said would guide her term if elected.

"I'm Amy Thompson, and I'm running for Springdale City Council for District 4," Thompson said in the transcript. She described nearly 15 years owning a Springdale business and volunteering with schools, the swim team and her church as the background that informs her platform.

Thompson said she will "bring a fresh perspective," and contrasted that with what she described as a long-tenured incumbent: "My opponent has been on council since 1993. After more than 30 years, it's easy to get locked into the same way of thinking," she said, presenting her candidacy as an alternative viewpoint.
