Kevin Prybel, the appointed special magistrate for the Sumter County Value Adjustment Board, recommended that petition number 2025-01 for parcel G04N264 be denied after the petitioner did not appear and no evidence was presented at a hearing on Nov. 20, 2025.
Prybel told the hearing that he could not review evidence unless it was presented on the record or by agreement of the parties while the record was open, and that he must evaluate the relevance and credibility of any evidence when deciding a petition. “The relief requested by the petitioner, I recommend to be denied,” he said.
The magistrate identified Victoria Summerlin and James Stevens as representatives present on behalf of the property appraiser. Prybel said the board provided a 15-minute wait for the petitioner but recorded that no one appeared. He added that a written decision will be issued so the petitioner’s right to bring an action in circuit court would not be impaired.
The hearing was recorded and Prybel noted the time as 10:57 a.m. on Nov. 20, 2025 before adjourning. No formal vote or further testimony was recorded during the session.
