Polk County board approves package of resolutions, including Norville URA sewer project and grant extensions

The board also approved grant-related resolutions: a Byrne Justice Assistance Grant for residential substance abuse treatment (No. 22) and a governor's office methamphetamine hotspots task force grant extension (No. 23). The board moved several service and business agreements (including with Holmes Murphy and Associates and a pathology laboratory) and approved community sponsorship and community betterment grant awards.
Roll-call voting was recorded for the items listed on the agenda. For the Norville URA sanitary sewer improvement resolution the roll call recorded affirmative votes from McCoy, Brownell, Hawkins Smith, Van Ort and Connelly and the motion carried. Similar unanimous or majority roll-call approvals were recorded for the other grouped resolutions as read into the record.
Other communications were referred to staff, including tax abatement requests for specific properties, an urban renewal plan area amendment for the City of Allemand, and a notice of appraisement of damages and time for appeal related to condemnation tied to an intersection improvement project. The board also authorized publication of a public hearing on Oct. 8 regarding a proposed FY24-25 budget amendment.
The approvals allow the county to proceed with bidding, contracting and grant acceptance steps described in the resolutions; specific implementation steps and reporting requirements will proceed under departmental oversight.
