County approves master agreement with WGI for water-quality and environmental services

The Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners approved a master services agreement with WGI Inc. on Dec. 18 to provide professional water‑quality and environmental services to the county.
Staff said the agreement addresses the county’s need for ongoing technical support — including monitoring, permitting and liaison work with federal, state and regional agencies — and estimated services at roughly $3,000 per quarter. The county had conducted interviews with two top-ranked firms (WGI and Royal Consultants Inc.) and negotiated terms consistent with procurement policy.
A WGI representative described the firm’s capacity to support federal, state and local agency coordination — including items linked to the St. Johns River Water Management District and other regional partners — and emphasized flexibility to add on advocacy or additional tasks as needed. "The key to start off with is our ability to attend the meetings that you've asked for... focus on federal, state and local agencies," the representative said.
Commissioners praised the breadth of the proposed services and approved the master agreement by unanimous voice vote. Staff said they provided an executed copy of the agreement and will coordinate with WGI on scope implementation and meeting attendance.
