The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended that the town council approve SUP25‑0007, which would permit a sports‑simulator business (Simpoint) inside an existing suite at The Pines shopping center. Cam Backum, who identified himself as the owner of Simpoint, said the business will offer golf and pickleball simulators, lessons, walk‑up appointments, memberships and private events. "We'll comply with everything that's asked," he told the commission when asked about noise abatement and staffing. Backum said the operation would be staffed during open hours, and that food would generally be bring‑your‑own for private events.
Commissioners asked about the proposed 5 a.m. opening time given proximity to residences; staff said property owners were notified and no correspondence had been received before the hearing, and the applicant said opening hours would be driven by demand. The commission moved to recommend approval to town council with the conditions suggested by staff, including limiting the use to the designated suite and requiring acoustic mitigation to prevent perceptible noise offsite.
The recommendation now goes to town council for final action.
