Commissioners approve ambulance contract and equipment purchases for Duque station

The Vermillion County commissioners voted to approve a Park County ambulance contract and to authorize furniture and radio purchases for the near-complete Duque ambulance station during their meeting on Wednesday.

County staff said attorney review led to minor changes in the Park County ambulance contract, which commissioners approved after a motion from Mister Peoples and a second; the board recorded the vote as carried. Julie Lanzone presented three quotes for furniture and commercial radio service for the Duque station and requested a total of $10,614.07 to purchase items and communications equipment. "The total amount she's requesting for furniture and with the radio will be $10,614.07," the chair reported. The board approved the purchase (mover: Hess; second: Peebles) and noted that additional funds would be requested from the council because the expense was not in the ambulance renovation budget.

The commissioners also approved routine financial business earlier in the meeting, including claims and payroll approvals for February, and approved issuing a county credit card for the veterans office to facilitate deposits, as well as sale of a surplus office chair for $200 to a local individual.

Officials said the Duque ambulance station is nearing completion and that furniture procurement and radio installation will proceed following this approval. Staff will seek any additional council appropriation needed to cover costs not included in the renovation budget.
