Riverview SD board sets March study session as community meeting for master plan

The Riverview SD Board of Education agreed to move forward with the final stage of its district master plan, targeting a community input session during the March study session.

Chair (S1) told the board the final step is “to hold the community meeting to gather additional insight,” and asked members whether they wanted the meeting attached to a study session or scheduled as a separate night. Laurie (S6) said she wanted the process finished and community voices heard: “I for me, personally, I think that we should kind of finish this process,” and suggested including time for the public during a study session rather than holding a standalone night.

Board members debated timing and format but favored attaching the session to an existing meeting to avoid extra advertising costs. The chair proposed three scheduling options and the board settled on March 10 as the primary date, with April 7 and March 17 as fallbacks. The chair said administration would prepare a recap of viable options for public review and “get it all together” to publicize the meeting.

The session will focus on the two most financially viable options identified in the planning presentations, with staff prepared to recap other alternatives briefly. Board members emphasized doing outreach so residents can review the options in advance and commented that turnout is likely to be higher around budget discussions. The chair said he would organize logistics and communications for the community meeting.

The board did not take a formal vote in the transcript; members instructed administration to schedule and promote the session and to present the viable plan options at the meeting.
