Mayor outlines March community calendar: daylight saving, taxes, veterans ceremony and local events

The mayor announced the city's annual Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall (the mayor referenced the Mancay/Manca Annex location). He said the 2026 flower-pot sponsorship program is open and that sponsorships will cost $200 per pot after March 1; interested residents should contact the community development and planning department.
Other items in the update included a reminder that 2026 dog-license applications are open and due by March 31 and that the Gardner Community Youth Center has new activities for students in grades 7–12 with registration information on its website and Facebook page. The mayor promoted the Polish American Citizens Club drive-thru meal fundraiser on Sunday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (meals $20 each) and noted theater performances of Young Frankenstein at the Mount on Feb. 27, Feb. 28 (evening), and March 8 at 2 p.m.; tickets are available at the Mount box office.
He closed by saying that, weather permitting, City Hall will provide deeper updates on several planning projects next month, including discussion at a recent city council meeting about a sludge landfill expansion and other infrastructure projects.
