Board approves fund balance policy, SEF MOU, calendars, budget adjustment and a transportation policy amendment

Policy EEA (student transportation services) drew extended discussion. Director (speaker 4) proposed adding language to the policy to protect families who choose to provide their own transportation from losing district transportation entitlement in cases of extenuating circumstances. The amendment moved by Director (speaker 4) would add at the end of page 2, item 5: "If extenuating circumstances arise, families may appeal to the transportation department." The amendment was seconded and carried, and the board then approved the amended policy on first reading.
The chair also requested and the board approved a motion to hold closed meetings on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 to discuss litigation, privileged attorney communications and personnel matters.
